i knew long before that the olympics will go to rio de janeiro.

the truth is, it should. the amazing power of such international events bring great advancement, socially, financially and psychologically, to the host country.

just take a look at africa, who will be hosting the next world cup. watch the documentary and you'll know. the power of these events that brings unity to the country. and you see them work together to make it possible. the amount of pride and honour, which they so lacked before, for their country.

i was walking home when i realised that it was exceptionally dark.

many ppl asked me whether it was worth it ending this fellowship.

it's a very tough question that i cant answer at the moment, but probably a few years down the road. i've always believed that we shouldnt let money decide how we live our life.

i've seen how my life might be 10 years down the road. i've had live examples.

the truth is, the flame was gone halfway through the course. i wanted out all along. but i only mustered the courage to do it now. it's a change that i wanted all along, and it's a change i've made.

i never knew what i should do with the cash. things are different now.

it's not about the money, it should never be.

probably there's something i'm missing out right now, something that i've yet to meet to understand why. but i believe as long as we still have the ability, money should never be the cause of misery.

what we need, it's always affordable. what we cant afford, it's usually not a need. it's a want..

thanks for the concern from everyone. i'm fine, and i know what i want in life. i've met people that inspired me.

so, with an increase in price all these years, we expect something in return isnt it.

well, for certain, the probability of a having an air-conditioned bus increased to about 99.9%. unless of course, we get the rare, romantic squeaky old bus with brown leather seats. i havent came across a train without air-conditioning.

they also increased the probability of finding seats. but, you got to have a small ass. it's different on the train, they only increased the chances of you boarding the train.

i remember back then when the starting fare for a cab was $2.40.

and i hate it when the bus driver drives as if he's on a F/A18 hornet... and brakes like he's about to land on some carrier.

ladder 49 was a great movie. i didnt know that until last week when it showed on tv. i really need to show off, i cried when i watched it. the flow of sequence of the movie is such that you'll feel for the characters in it. totally burning with emotions.. get the pun.

PARIS (AFP) - - Slaying hordes of bad guys -- the more the better -- in fast-paced video games improves vision, a study published Sunday showed for the first time.

Far from being harmful to eyesight, as some had feared, action games such as Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, or Left 4 Dead provide excellent training for what eye doctors call contrast sensitivity, the study found.

Contrast sensitivity is the ability to notice tiny changes in shades of grey against a uniform background, and is critical to everyday activities such as night driving and reading. It often degrades with age.

The findings, published in Nature Neuroscience, reveal a previously unsuspected adaptability in the brain, and could open the way to new therapies, the researchers said.

"This is not a skill that people were supposed to get better at by training," said Daphne Bavelier, a professor at the University of Rochester in New York state and the study's lead researcher.

"It was something that we corrected for at the level of the optics of the eye -- to get better contrast detection you get glasses or laser surgery."

"What we found is that even without this correction you can help your brain make better use of whatever information is received from your retina," she said in a phone interview.

For the study, Bavelier and three colleagues conducted two sets of experiments.

In the first, they compared the contrast sensitivity of hard-core action game players with video game aficionados of the same age who preferred less rapid-fire fare.

In action games, players typically target and shoot figures that pop up suddenly on a computer screen.

The researchers found that the action buffs were 50 percent more efficient at detecting contrast.

But there remained a chicken-or-egg question: had their vision been improved by playing, or did they become action game players because they had better than average contrast sensitivity to start with?

To find out, Bavelier asked two groups of non-action video game players to undergo 50 hours of training. One played a popular point-and-shoot game called Call of Duty, and the other played a game that offered a rich visual experience, but one bereft of action.

"We found that the people in the first group improved by 43 percent, and the other group not at all," she said.

As important, the study also found that the improvement was not transitory. "The positive effect remained months, even years after training, indicating long-lasting gains," she added.

Is there some limit beyond which playing action games loses its positive effect or becomes detrimental? Can you, in other words, have too much of a "good thing"?

"For your visual system, probably not. For your social life, perhaps," said Bavelier.

LONDON - Concluding his first international summit, President Barack Obama hailed agreements at the emergency meeting of world powers Thursday as a "turning point in our pursuit of global economic recovery."

The new U.S. leader said the heads of industrial countries that met in London agreed on "unprecedented steps to restore growth and prevent a crisis like this from happening again."

He spoke shortly after G-20 leaders pledged an additional $1.1 trillion in financing to the International Monetary Fund and other global institutions and declared a crackdown on tax havens and hedge funds. The leaders announced the creation of a supervisory body to flag problems in the global financial system _ but did not satisfy calls from the U.S. and others for new stimulus measures.

Despite that failure, Obama called the one-day London gathering "very productive" and historic because of the scope of the challenges the world faces in righting the economic crisis that's wreaking havoc on virtually every country.

"The challenge is clear. The global economy is contracting," Obama said.

In a news conference packed with media from across the world, Obama also praised the G-20 nations for rejecting protectionism that hampers foreign trade and could deepen the economic crisis, and he urged global unity, saying, "We owe it to all of our citizens to act."

Still, he said, "it is hard for 20 heads of state to bridge our differences."

"I think we did OK," he said. "When I came here it was with the intention of listening and learning but also providing American leadership."

He said the document the G-20 produced and actions that will follow "reflect a range of our priorities."

"We wanted to make sure we had a strong, coordinated response to growth" and "we thought it was important we had a strong,coordinated regulatory response," Obama said _ and added that both were achieved.

When asked, however, he could not point to an individual summit accomplishment that would help recession-battered Americans beyond general points such as fighting protectionism and making the global economy work together.

"This is not a panacea, but it is a criticial step," Obama said.

He declined to specify where the White House compromised, saying the final communique reflected a consensus of world leaders.

"Each country has its own quirks or issues that a leader may decide was really really important," Obama said.

He said he was committed to "forging a consensus instead of dictating our terms" and argued that the United States acting alone would only be "half-way effective, not even half."

On his whirlwind, weeklong European trip, the new U.S. president also met privately with other heads of state on the sidelines of the summit.

He said he had had productive one-on-one talks with leaders of Russia, China, Great Britain and India, on topics that included ways to "reduce the nuclear threat" throughout the world. He called for a coordinated response to North Korea's plans to launch a multistage rocket in the coming days.

Earlier Thursday, Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak agreed on a need "for a stern, united response from the international community" in light of North Korea's efforts toward a threatened satellite launch, and the White House announced that Lee would visit Obama in Washington on June 16.

Officials said the two leaders also discussed a free trade pact between the countries that would slash tariffs and other barriers to trade.

Obama has hinted he might seek to renegotiate a 2007 deal between South Korea and the U.S. that was hammered out under former President George W. Bush but that legislators in the two countries failed to ratify amid opposition from farmers and labor groups. Officials said Obama told Lee that he understood there were difficulties with the deal on both sides, but that he wanted to "make progress" on it.

Obama also met on Thursday with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss how their countries could work together. Obama had been expected to reassure Singh about plans to boost aid to India's rival, Pakistan.
